Ring of Steall

Bag 4 Munros and traverse narrow, rocky aretes on this classic circuit

  • 60 British pounds

About this event

A Munro-baggers delight and surely on every walkers bucket list, this high level circuit is a classic and one of the finest routes found in the Highlands. This traverse of 4 excellent Munros combined with rocky aretes, stunning scenery, waterfalls, and ancient glens this route really does has something for everyone. This is a long, tiring day but your knowledgeable and experienced guide will handle the navigation and manage the pace, offering the best possible chance of completing the day safely and with 4 new Munro's under your belt. We will tackle the circuit anticlockwise thereby leaving the potentially soggy crossing beneath the Steall Falls, and the delightful walk out through the Nevis Gorge, until the end of the day. Starting from the Lower Falls car park in Glen Nevis we tackle Sgurr a' Mhaim first, getting the biggest ascent out the way early while legs are still fresh. We'll pause for breath here, taking in the incredible views out towards Ben Nevis and its neighbours and across to the rest of the peaks of the Mamores. Next follows the notorious Devils Ridge. This rocky, narrow knife-edge ridge is, for some, the highlight of the day. Others may quiver at the prospect of the hire-wire balancing act. For the most part, the exposure is not that great and any difficulties are short lived but hands will almost certainly be required. From here we then pass over the former Munro summit of Sgurr an Lubhair, now just a 'Top', before continuing on to Am Bodach. The descent from here is steep with loose scree and it will be a relief when the bealach is reached. Easier grassy ground leads to Stob Coire a' Chairn, before the hands come out pockets again to tackle the scramble along the crest, leading over An Garbhanach and on to An Gearanach our final Munro. A fine stalkers path descends from the summit to the glen where we have the choice of a paddle or the notorious cable bridge. Online booking for this event is available on the following dates.
