About Walk Glencoe

"We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us."

 - John Muir -

Walk Glencoe was founded by Christian Howell at the start of 2021. After years of exploring and climbing the mountains, and a love of the Scottish Highlands, Christian moved to the small village of Kentallen in Lochaber where he lives with his wife, Claire, and Border Collie, Pickle.

Living at the foot of Beinn a’ Bheithir, Christian has this and all the mountains of Glencoe as his playground. Having developed an intimate local knowledge of these magnificent mountains, the history and folklore, the wildlife and plant life, it is this knowledge and this passion  and enthusiasm which Christian is so keen to share with others.

Christian is a fully qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, a full member of the Mountain Training Association (MTA) and qualified First Aider with the British Association of Ski Patrollers (BASP).

Christian enjoys nothing more than the escapism that is available amongst these magnificent mountains, he has an overwhelming passion for wildlife and the conservation of wild lands but most of all the exploration of wild places, and this leads him to explore more remote and wild areas to bag Munros, of which he is close to completing his second round. Not just a fair weather walker, Christian embraces and enjoys the challenges of the Scottish weather on the mountains, always putting safety first, but never shying away from a wet, dreich day or put off by a winter whiteout.

Christian has recently gained his Winter Mountain Leader qualification, and is always looking to further his knowledge by attending workshops and seminars as part of his own personal development.

With a career background in the emergency services, PVG scheme member and fully insured, you can be sure that you are in safe hands, and with Christian as your leader, you’re sure of a memorable, informative and enjoyable day.
