About this event
Journeying into a winter wonderland, far from civilisation, we will base ourselves at the award winning eco-hostel at Loch Ossian for 2 nights as we set about visiting the 3 Munro summits that encircle the Loch. Accommodation in a private dormitory room, return travel to Corrour from Fort William by train, and 3 days of guiding is all included in the price. This warm and comfortable hostel boasts hot showers, full kitchen facilities and all bedding is included meaning that all you need to bring is your kit for taking on the hill and food for 3 days. Towels can also be provided if needed for a small supplementary charge of £2.00 The exact itinerary will be communicated with all participants by email upon booking but the rough agenda will be as follows: Day 1 - We'll catch the 11:40 train from Fort William to get to Corrour for 12:30. After checking in at the Hostel we'll kit up, leaving what we don't need in our dormitory, before heading out on the hill to bag the Munro summit of Beinn na Lap on the north side of Loch Ossian. This summit is very easy to reach, taking just 3-4 hours and will prove a good winter 'shake down' ahead of our bigger day that follows. Back at the hostel we can relax, enjoy a hot shower and meal and dry out any wet kit in front of the fire. Day 2 - We'll get up in good time to have some breakfast and hot coffee in order to set off up the hill for about 7am. Our intention is to visit both Munro summits of Carn Dearg and Sgor Gaibhre on the south side of the Loch. After a long day in the hills the hostel is the perfect refuge to refuel, recharge and relax for our second night Day 3 - Some may wish to catch the early train back to Fort William but, for those still with plenty of energy and enthusiasm, we have the option to walk up the fabulous Corbett peak of Leum Uilleim before catching the later lunchtime or afternoon train. Additional Information Maximum Group size is 6 and online booking is available on the following dates: 12th -14th Jan 24 All participants will require an ice axe and crampons (not micro-spikes).
