About this event

High above the glacial trough of Loch Treig, this fine pair of peaks provide superb views in all directions. The summit area of Stob Coire Easain is particularly impressive with the summit cairn perched right on the very rim of the precipitous northern crags affording sensational views extending across Rannoch Moor and beyond to the vast tangle of peaks in Glencoe and Lochaber. If the weather is good, we'll return back over Stob a Choire Mheadhoin, maximising the time spent up high enjoying the superlative views. In winter conditions, this is a tough day and ice axes and crampons with be essential and an excellent level of fitness will be required. It is not at all unusual to experience temperatures below -15 degrees on the summits and combined with windblown snow and ice, conditions can very often feel highly inhospitable up here. To be ready to take on this challenge you will be an experienced hill walker, and would have been regularly walking the Munro's throughout the summer months. You will be accustomed to walking in adverse weather conditions for 8 hours or more with a heavy pack and be physically very fit. It's likely that head torches will be needed on the ascent and/or descent. Your highly experienced guide, a qualified Winter Mountain Leader, will take care of all of the logistics, navigation, and decision making ensuring everyone's safety at all times creating the best possible chance of success. Additional Information Maximum Group size is 6 and online booking is available on the following dates: Wednesday 6th December 23 All participants will require an ice axe and crampons (not micro-spikes). If you do not have your own equipment then I do have a limited supply available to hire at a small additional charge of £10. Please drop us an email with your requirements. Equipment can also be hired locally.
