About this event
On the north side of the A86, nestled halfway between the villages of Spean Bridge and Newtonmore lie a cluster of 5 Munros. The group are conveniently split into two manageable size clusters of 3 Munros and 2 Munros. We are here to visit the 2 Munros which make up the western half of the group, Beinn a' Chaorainn and Beinn Teallach. Beinn Teallach was previously though to be a Corbett but a later re-survey found that it just reaches Munro status by a mere 20cm, making it the smallest Munro in Scotland! Beinn a' Chaorainn, by contrast, is a substantial summit, soaring to 1052m. It takes the form of a huge whaleback ridge running roughly north to south and boasts 3 distinct summits. The central summit is the highest and the cairn is positioned precariously close to the precipitous eastern cliffs. In winter, some huge cornices can form here requiring some very careful navigation. A straight line between summits would drop you straight through the cornices!!! Additional Information Maximum Group size is 6 and online booking is available on the following dates: Wednesday 17th January 24 All participants will require an ice axe and crampons (not micro-spikes).
